Arcadia – Funeral services will be held for Irene Chandler, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May29, 2020 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Arcadia. The interment will follow at Hurricane Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.

Irene was born January 15, 1930 in Bienville, Louisiana to Leonard and Beadie Potts Davis. She entered into rest on May 26, 2020, in Arcadia, Louisiana. Irene was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was the Director of the Church Nursery at First Baptist Church in Arcadia for 18 years, and later worked at Arcadia High School in the cafeteria for 19 years where she retired in 1992. After two weeks of retirement, she went back to work at First Baptist Church preparing meals for the day care. When the day care closed, she then began working at the Senior Citizens Center in Arcadia. During these years, Irene also served as a commissioner at the election polls for over 30 years in Arcadia. Irene was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.

Irene is preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Beadie Davis, husband Ardis Chandler, brothers Roy Davis and J.W. Davis, and by sister Shirley Davis Poole. She is survived by her brother Alford Davis of Minden.

Her legacy includes her loving children; Jim Chandler and wife Joan, Donny Chandler and wife Teresa, and Sharra Woods and husband Ricky (3rd son) by grandchildren; Kristy O’Bannon, Jana Bellah, Jenifer Gregory, Brian Chandler, Jamie Crabtree, Kathleen Hoskins, Jed Chandler, Dusty Woods, and Whitney Woods Younse, by 13 great grandchildren, and by numerous other nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Dusty Woods, Brian Chandler, Jed Chandler, Richard O’Bannon, Braeden O’Bannon, Chris
Hoskins, Jerry Lane Simpson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Sims, Tommy Frye, Gene Reeves and Bobby Joe King.
