His father was shown to be a shoemaker.
In 1880, Jacob Ritchie, aged 26, a paper maker, was living in Brookhaven, New York, in the home of William Brown, aged 23, a bayman, and Phebe Brown, aged 23, and their son, William Brown, aged 3. Living next door was William Richie, aged 28, a paper maker, and his wife, Mary Ritchie, aged 22.
In 1900, Jacob Ritchie, aged 45, was living in Brookhaven, New York, with his wife, Lizzie Ritchie, aged 31, and daughter, Blanche May Ritchie, aged 7. He was shown to be a general mechanic.
March 8, 1912 - "At Special Term of the Supreme Court, held at Patchogue by Justice Jaycox, the uncontested divorce case of Elizabeth Ritchie, against her husband, Jacob Ritchie, was tried. The parties, who reside in Patchogue, were married October 24. 1889, and have one child, Miss Blanche Mae Ritchie, 19 years of age. The plaintiff was represented by Attorney A. G. Blue. An interlocutory decree of absolute divorce on statutory grounds was crantcd in favor of the plaintiff."
In 1925, Jacob Ritchie, aged 71, a jeweler, was living on Howard Street, Brookhaven, New York. Living next door was his sister, Phebe E. Brown, aged 68, her son-in-law, Howard C. Still, aged 40, and daughter, Blanche Sada Still, aged 42, Wilmot Howard Still, aged 9, Robert H. Brown, aged 16, and William E. Brown, aged Brown, aged 48.
Obituary - Jacob Ritchie, aged 84, resident of Patchogue for more than 50 years, died Wednesday at Yaphank, following an extended illness. Born in Freeport, he was a retired clock repairer. He leaves a sister, Mrs. William H. Brown, and a brother, William E. Ritchie, both of North Ocean avenue, Patchogue. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today from Ruland's Funeral chapel, Patchogue, the Rev. Hanington Wilson, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal church, officiating. Interment will be made in Cedar Grove cemetery.
