A lifelong resident of Hillburn, Mr. DeGroat was employed by the General Motors Corp. in Tarrytown, N.Y. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a member of Brock Chapel Presbyterian Church, and active in the Suffern Little League.
Surviving are his wife, Vivian; a son, Wallace M. of Seattle; five daughters, Adriene Edwards of Seattle, Jacqueline N., Linda S., Laura, and Yvonne R., all of Hillburn; seven sisters, Helen Peterson and Roberta Kyles, both of Hillburn, Joan Davis of Goshen, N.Y., Irene Caldwell of Warwick, N.Y., Marilyn Royster of Washingtonville, N.Y., Cathleen Davis of Oceanside, Calif., and Elaine La Forte of New York City; three brothers, Vivan of Haskell, Ronald of Hillburn, and Carlton of Detroit, and six grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home, Route 59, Suffern. Burial will be in Airmont Veterans Cemetery, Suffern. Friends may call tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
