On October 20, 1917 he was transferred to the School of Military Aeronautics, Cornell University, Ithaca. NY, then transferred to the 176th Aero Squadron. He shipped out to England with the 176th Aero Squadron February 16, 1918. On July 7, 1918 he was transferred to the 93rd Aero Squadron and served in France with the Squadron.
He returned to the States with the 93rd Aero Squadron, departing France, March 4, 1919, aboard the USS America, and docking in New York Harbor, March 13, 1919.
He was discharged from the service March 24, 1919, Camp Upton. NY.
