While he was sleeping in a traction car on the road from Peoria to Sherman early yesterday morning, Joseph Desch, jr., 19 years old, 401 West Reynolds street, was suddenly seized with an attack of heart trouble. He died three minutes later.

The death occurred as the Peoria-St. Louis early morning limited approached Sherman. Desch, accompanied by W.R. Buno of Springfield, was returning from Peoria where he had been subpeonaed to testify in a damage suit. Buno, who had been sleeping, awoke to find his companion gasping. He went to his aid and Desch died while Buno was supporting his body.

The body was brought to Springfield on the car and a physician summoned to meetin the train at the station. After an examination, the physician pronounced the man dead.

Desch was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Desch, sr.

He was a cigarmaker and was employed at the Rieke Jurgens Cigar manufactory, 323 West Reynolds street.

He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul's church and of the St. Vincent society.

He attended school at SS. Peter and Paul's school.

Suviving are his parents, three brothers, Charles and Chris Desch, of Springfield; and Frank, of Portland, Ore.; four sisters, Mrs. Otto Reichert, of Springfield; Mrs. Otis Buchanan, of Springfield; and Misses Kate and Louise Desch, at home.

The body was taken from the traction station to the undertaking rooms of Richard Branson, 518 East Capitol avenue and were removed from there to the residence.

Funeral services were held at the family residence and at SS. Peter and Paul's Catholic church.

Interment was made in Calvary cemetery.
