Age 84, died Monday night after a lengthy illness. He was born August 2, 1891 in Guberni, Lublin, Poland, the son of Johann Gustav and Wilhelmena Krause. He accompanied his parents to the United States at an early age. He spent his early years in and around Gillett, Wisconsin, where he became a building contractor. He married Anna Lauersdorf in 1914. They moved to Appleton in 1927 and he was very active in the building trades until his retirement. He was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Survivors include a son, Edward of Appleton; four brothers, Rudolph of Appleton, Robert of Sheboygan, Alfred of Wabeno, and Elmer of Gig Harbor, Washington; a sister, Gustie Zill of Antigo; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna; two daughters; two brothers, Arthur of Gillett, and Herbert of Sheboygan; and a sister, Olga Steinke of the state of Washington. The complete funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Brettschneider-Trettin Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Pankow officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 until 9 Wednesday evening and after 9 a.m. Thursday until the hour of the service. A memorial fund has been established.
