Archbald-Mrs. Kathryn Ahern, 80, 203 South Main St, died at her home Saturday after a short illness. Mrs. Ahern, widow of James Ahern, was a lifelong resident of Archbald [sic]. She was a member of Saint Thomas Aquinas church, its Altar and Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of America. Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Cornelius Kearney, Mrs. Frank Malone and Mrs. Fred Price of Archbald; Mrs. Joseph Shaute of Clarks Green; Mrs. Margaret McAuvic of Scranton; Mrs. Charles Reap of Binghamton; and Mrs. JL Montgomery of Cleveland; five sons, William of Buffalo, and Joseph and Maurice of Cleveland, Thomas of Scranton and John of Archbald; 38 grandchildren, including Rev William Ahern SJ of Loyola High School, New York, and Sister Mary Cornelian in Idaho; and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral from the home tomorrow with a requiem mass in Saint Thomas Aquinas Church. Burial in parish cemetery. ~Scranton (PA) Times, Mon 14 Feb 1949
