Leon E. Mueller, 87, of rural Kiel died peacefully on March 23, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on December 1, 1932, son of the late Frank and Marcella (Gries) Mueller. Leon attended Holy Trinity Grade School and was a 1951 graduate of Kiel High School. During his school years he was a track and field athlete and a member of the FFA. Leon proudly served his country with the U.S. Army and played tuba for the Divisional Army Band.
On September 6, 1958 he was united in marriage to Grace Lechler at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill. Leon farmed in the Town of Schleswig and also worked at Lake to Lake (presently Land O' Lakes) as a licensed cheese maker until his retirement in 1995. He was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church where he also served as usher. Leon was an officer for Eaton Cemetery and he was actively involved in taking care of the cemetery for many years. Leon was a member of the Manitowoc County Pork Producers. He spent time working at the State Fair pork stand. Leon had a love for music, he played for the Kiel Municipal Band and enjoyed to go out dancing. After his retirement he enjoyed taking bus trips and was an avid Kiel Raiders fan, enjoying going to many sporting events. He was also a Packers and Badgers fan. Leon and his family had a special connection to the farm and made many great memories together there.
Survivors include his wife, Grace (Lechler) Mueller, his children; Sue (Gary) DeGregorio, Sandy (Jim) Vogel, David (Lori) Mueller & Chuck Mueller, his grandchildren; Julie DeGregorio, Joe (Kira) DeGregorio, Brad Vogel, Jason Vogel and Sarah (Fiance Max Ames) Vogel. Leon is further survived by his sister; Valeria “Mutzie” Neils, sisters-in-law; Margaret Mueller, Mary Mueller, Doris Gross and Marianne (Art Look) Lechler, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Elroy & Marvin Mueller, sister; Deloris (Cliff) Benzschawel, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Warren Neils, Steve Gross, Nelson (Lila) Lechler, Eugene Lechler, Ray (Glorian) Lechler, Roy (Arlene) Lechler, father-in-law and mother-in-law; James and Selma Lechler.
Private family services were held with burial in the Eaton Union Cemetery.
