Indian Wars Medal of Honor Recipient. Born at Annagh, Ireland, he served as a Private in Company E, 7th Infantry, US Army. During the Sioux Indian campaigns at Big Horn, Montana, on the dates of July 9 to 14, 1876, Private Evans volunteered to carry critical dispatches between General Crook and General Terry. For heroism in this daring mission, he was awarded the Medal of Honor.
