Chalk Level - Jan., 10 - Mr. Alison Berger who has been an invalid for 2 years and quite ill for the past few weeks passed away Thursday night abouyt 10 o`clock. Mr. Berger was 83 years of age, a Civil war veteran and a very prominent and prosperous farmer. He was married to Miss Pullen 55 years ago last November 25th, and is survived by her and the following children: Mrs. J.C. Keatts Pomeroy, Washington, George and Charles Berger of Gretna, Mrs. S.W. Camden of Danville, Frank and Ben Berger of Coalgood, Kentucky, and Clyde Berger of Swatou, China. One brother, Mr. Sam Berger of Goods, VA., and three sister Mrs. Lucy Cocks and Mrs. Hettie Bennett of Chatham and Mrs. Annie Ramsey of Danville. The funeral will be Saturday, P.M. at the family cemetery. The hour has not been decided yet. --- Gretna - Jan. 10. - Alison Berger, age 83 died at his home near Gretna Thursday nite, Jan 8, following an illness of several years duration. Besides his wife, he is survived by five sons, George and Charlie Berger of Gretna, Frank and Ben Berger of Kentucky and Clyde Berger who is U.S. consul to China; two daughters Mrs. John Keatts, of Washington state, and Mrs. S.W. Camden of Danville; also one brother, Sam Berger of Bedford county, and three sisters Mrs. Lucy Cocke and C.D. Bennett of Chatham and Mrs. Annie Ramsey of Danville. Interment was in the old family cemetery at Mrs. Pomp Berger`s, Saturday afternoon at 2 o`clock.
