The death of Muriel Anna Hawkins, wife of the late Irvine Hawkins, occurred on February 28th, 2005 at York Manor Nursing Home, Fredericton, NB. Born on February 27, 1920 in Barker's Point, NB, she was the daughter of the late Tippet and Gertrude Rickard. Muriel was a dental receptionist and she was affiliated with the Nashwaaksis United Church of Canada. She was an avid bowler. In her younger years, she was on several provincial bowling teams and at the age of 72 was playing 4 times a week. She is survived by one son, Richard Hawkins (Judy) of Fredericton, NB; two daughters, Barbara Hatheway (Donald) and Peggy Jones (Douglas) both of Fredericton, NB; seven grandchildren, Pam Hatheway, Janet Jones, Tim Hawkins, Greg Jones, Bob Hatheway, Shanon Elliott and Krista Donovan; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ernest Rickard (Joyce) of Barker's Point, NB; five nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Muriel is predeceased by her brother Walter Rickard and great-grandson Nicolas. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB Wednesday, March 2nd, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 3rd, 2005 at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel at 2 pm with Rev. Gil MacKenzie and Mr. Peter Somerville officiating. Interment will take place at Douglas Rural Cemetery, Fredericton, NB at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Society of Canada or to the donors choice and would be appreciated by the family.
