Actress, Model. She appeared as an American actress in more than sixty television and film productions, most notably "Mischief" in 1985, "Twins" in 1988, and "Jerry Maguire" in 1996. She was married to actor John Travolta, with whom she collaborated on the science fiction film "Battlefield Earth" in 2000 and the biographical film "Gotti" in 2018. With her diverse character roles, she also starred in the films "The Cat in the Hat" and "What a Girl Wants" in 2003, "Broken Bridges" in 2006 and "Old Dogs" in 2009. Born Kelly Kamalelehua Smith in Honolulu, her biological father drowned when she was four years old. Later, after her mother married Peter Palzis, she was adopted by Palzis. By the age of sixteen, she had commercial modeling assignments. She studied acting at the University of Southern California before landing bit parts on television including "CHiPs" and "Roseanne." In the 1983 film "Christine," she had a bit part. These roles led to the role of playing Mary Lee in twelve episodes of the 1983 to 1984 television series "For Love and Honor." She was the spokesperson for Neutrogena, a cosmetic company. In 2002, she appeared with lead vocalist Adam Levine in the music video for Maroon 5's "She Will Be Loved." She had previously been married to actor Kevin Gage from 1985 to 1987. She and Travolta eloped to Paris in 1991. She and Travolta had three children; the oldest son died in 2009 after a seizure. In 2010, she had her second son. John Travolta and she were one of the highest profile members of the religion of Scientology. She died after a two-year battle with breast cancer.
