South African Diplomat. She was the youngest daughter of South Africa's first black president Nelson Mandela and anti-apartheid activist Winnie Madikizela-Mandela. In February 1985, Zindzi stood in front of a crowd to read a letter from her father, who had been imprisoned when she was 18 months old, refusing then-president PW Botha’s offer for conditional release. Since 2015, she has served as the ambassador to Denmark, a tenure that was marked by controversy in 2019 when she called for white-owned land to be returned to black South Africans.
