Daniel was born in French Camp, prior his family moving to Stockton, where he graduated with the 1963 Edison High School Class.
Daniel was drafted 3 November 1965 into the Marines by the Selective Service Board of Oakland. His boot camp training was at the San Diego MCRD with further training at Camp Pendleton.
Upon arriving in Vietnam, Daniel was assigned to a Mortar Platoon with H&S Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.
The H&S Company was in a night defensive position when incoming hostile artillery fire hit it's perimeter. Daniel died from fragmentation wounds to his
left lower abdomen and neck from artillery fire at An Trach (1) and 10 kilometers southwest of the Danang Airfield.
Daniel was single and served his country for 1 year and 9 days and KIA # 7,523.
Tour of duty date unknown.
He was 21 years and 4 months old.
Survived by his parents; Francisco and Mary S Acosta Sr and his 3 brothers; Francisco Jr, Richard and David of 1346 E Lafayette, Stockton, CA.
