Anchorage Daily News March 14, 1993

Anchorage resident Omega Abraham, 85, died March 10 at Providence Hospital. A visitation was at Kehl's Forest Lawn Chapel with a funeral immediately afterward. Burial was at Angelus Memorial Park.

Mrs. Abraham was born March 27, 1907, in Redmon, Mo. She had been an Alaska resident since the mid-1940s and had worked as a waitress. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Hammel of Anchorage, and Yvonne Reink of Anacortes, Wash.; her twin brother, Alpha Helvey of Pine Bluff, Ark.; her sisters, Doney Tucker, Mamie Freeman and Juanita Byers, all of Little Rock, Ark., Neaomi Schmaltz and Laneille Marler, both of Heber Springs, Ark.; her grandchildren, Tami Lullie, Janet Haley, Mike Bairens, Robert Chidester and Lianna Baxman; and her great-grandchildren, Kaneathea Lullie, Melissa Haley, John Haley, Justin Baxman and Phillip Baxman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to the Alaska Center for Blind Adults, 3903 Taft Drive, Anchorage 99517.
