SUNBURY - Frances Goodwin Hollowell, 85, of 1526 US 158 East, died Feb. 15, 2000, in Albemarle Hospital. A native of Chowan County, she was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late James and Catherine Asbell Goodwin and the widow of William H. Hollowell.
She is survived by four daughters, Edna L. Parker of Suffolk, Catherine Chesson of Plymouth, Mary Ellen Briggs of Sunbury and Faye Wiley of Gates; two sons, James Hollowell and W.H. Hollowell of Sunbury; four sisters, Eva Modlin of Sunbury, Lillian Spivey of Hobbsville, Sybil Abrams of Norfolk and Doris Jean Jackson of Virginia Beach; four brothers, Lawrence Goodwin of Portland, Ore., Kay Goodwin of Portsmouth, James Goodwin and Floyd Goodwin, both of Suffolk; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Beulah Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Parr and Billy Presley. Burial will be in Warwick Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Gates County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 208, Gatesville, N.C. 27938, or Beulah Baptist Church, P.O. Box 112, Sunbury, N.C. 27979. Visitation will be at the home of Mrs. Frances Hollowell. Harrell Funeral Home, Gatesville, is in charge.
