From a typed account of a grandchild:

Matilda Dunlap was born near Athens, OH, 16 May 1835. When she was about 16 years of age, the family moved to Quincy, IL. She was united in marriage to William McKinney, 16 Mar 1852. To this union, three children were born: Charles C. McKinney, who died in California in 1897, Geo. F. McKinney, who lives at Balmorhea, TX, and Mrs. Izora A. Stewart of Milan, KS.

In February 1877, Mr. & Mrs. McKinney moved to Kansas and settled on a farm five miles northeast of Milan, where they resided until 1898 when they sold the farm and bought property in Milan. They lived in Milan until the death of the husband on 16 Mar 1913.

In early life, Mrs. McKinney united with the Presbyterian Church, remaining a member of that body until moving to Milan, when she became associated with the Church of Christ of that place.

February, 1908, she was stricken with paralysis, and since that time has been an invalid, waiting patiently, tho anxiously, for the time when she would pass from this world to the One where no sorrows, aches, or pains can enter. Many times she expressed herself as being unable to understand why she had to remain, but that it was God's will, and she would be patient until He called. Grandma passed from this life July 1, 1918, at the time being more than 83 years of age, leaving as immediate relatives two children, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
