Mr. Dennis Gray Abernathy, age 63, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Friday, May 11, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born April 16, 1949 in Fulton County, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Floyd G. Abernathy and the late Mrs. Annie Mae Vandider Abernathy. He worked as a commercial painter for Benise-Dowling & Associates. He loved the simple life and was happiest spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Garner Abernathy of Douglasville; daughters, Shelley Abernathy of South Carolina and Traci Bishop of Douglasville; son, Jesse Abernathy of South Carolina; two stepsons, Eric Maynard of Villa Rica and Michael Maynard of Dallas; sisters, Shelby Moore of Florida, Wanda Cohen of Tifton, and Peggy Hallmark of Douglasville; brother, Floyd â??Dickâ? Abernathy of Carrollton; 10 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. According to his wishes, the body was cremated. A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date by the family.
