Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, March 22, at 2:30 o'clock from the First Presbyterian Church, Winona, for Mrs. W. O. Allen, 78 years old, who passed away the previous day at the Baptist Hospital of Memphis, Tennessee, following an extended illness. The Rev. Reginald S. Lowe, pastor of the church of which Mrs. Allen had long been a faithful and active member, officiated.
Active pallbearers were J. E Allen, Jr., Allen Mackey, W. O. Mackey, M. V. Branch, Shed Hunger, C. M. Jaco, W. L. Shelton and A. R. Burt. Honorary pallbearers were the officers of the Presbyterian Church. Burial took place at Oakwood cemetery.
Mrs. Allen is survived by two sons, J. E. Allen, Sr., of Winona, and C. W. Allen of Fairbanks, La.; three daughters, Mrs. L. C. Mackey of Dyersburg, Tenn.; Mrs. R. E. Brown of Dayton, Texas; and Mrs. T. M. Stanford of Marks, and seven grandchildren.
The Presbyterian Church and the community will not forget Mrs. Allen. The members of the church and friends will remember and always cherish her faith in God and her help to her fellowman.
