The students screamed and cried, they climbed on top of each other, tried to break the doors, anything to be saved. The fire catched up to them within minutes, 20% burned alive and other 80% died because of the smoke. Out of the 500 children, 288 died with 36 teachers.
Later examination of the bodies shows that many children had been alive when they were discovered, but had died because the paramedics tossed them to the ambulance without checking if they were alive.
