K9 Officer Marco, a 6-year-old Belgian malinois, of Acworth, Cobb County, Georgia, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on September 3, 2007. He passed away from heat exhaustion after accidentally being left in a hot patrol car.
Officer Marco was trained to track and detect narcotics. His nose could sniff out anything that had been near drugs.
In his five years with the department, Marco had found thousands of dollars' worth of drugs.
In one case, about two years ago, Marco found a "cookie," uncut crack cocaine, and $34,000 in cash.
Officer Marco is being mourned by all whose lives he touched.
