She was united in marriage to Henry Wolter on Aug. 27, 1936. She loved cooking for her family and many friends. She also enjoyed poetry, writing, gardening, bird watching, and collecting and selling antiques. Margaret was guided through life by her strong faith and was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tomah. Her passion for serving her church and community was through daily prayer for the many people in her life.
Margaret was an ambitious person and received her GED at the age of 70. She took her first full-time job at age 75, as an administrative assistant; and had previously worked as a teacher’s aide for a short time. She was the person to call when your home needed a facelift; she designed and remodeled many homes for friends and family. Her ability to hold your attention with her storytelling was one thing that those who loved her will miss most.
She is survived by her dog and best friend Maggie Mae; her children, Tim (Susan) Wolter of Tomah, David Wolter of Chanhassen, MN, and Mary Wolter of Tomah; grandchildren, Daniel and Andrew Wolter and Kristin and Erin Wolter; a brother, Daniel (Chris) Schmidt of Hubertus, WI; sisters, Joan Rundle of Verona, WI, Ruth Evangeline Stern of Waterford, WI, Delores Bernarde of West Bend, WI, Helen Sennott of Menomonee, Falls, WI, and Christine Nelson of Menomonee Falls, WI; her dear friends, Tim and Pam White of New Hampshire and their children, Spencer and Shelby; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Dorothea; her husband, Henry, on Nov. 11, 1996; and brother and sisters.
