Genevieve Gillenwater, Age 93 of Muskogee, OK passed away June 29, 2007 at the Broadway Manor in Muskogee, OK after an illness.
Genevieve was born on June 13, 1914 in Columbus, Kansas. The daughter of Fred Robinson and Trissie (Page) Robinson. She was a Secretary at the Cherokee County Courthouse in Columbus, KS for nearly 35 years, at the Clerk, Treasurer and the County extension offices.
She married Wayne Gillenwater on July 22, 1939 in Columbus and he preceded her in death Sept 1976.
Genevieve belonged to the United Methodist Church Columbus, Am. Legion, and the Columbus Country Club all of Columbus and the Moose Lodge of Grove, Ok. She had lots of friends, and was a wonderful Mom, Nana, she was devoted to her family.
Survivors include one daughter Kay Akers and Fiancé Jim Cartwright of Muskogee, OK, one brother Joe Robinson of Columbus, KS, 2 granddaughters Melinda Mitchell and Craig Mondy of Tulsa, OK, and Cindy Wright and Greg Gilmore of Pueblo, CO, and four great grandchildren Melissa Mitchell, and Megan of Tulsa, OK, and Alyssa Wright of Austin, TX, and Wes Wright of Philadelphia, PA.
She was preceded in death by sister Helen Olsen, and her parents Fred and Trissie Robinson.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, at the Simpson Funeral Home in Columbus, with Rev. Dan Haggard officiating. Burial will be in the Lone Elm Cemetery rural Columbus. Memorials are to the Hometown Hospice of Muskogee, OK and the Mirza Shrine Transportation Fund of Pittsburg, KS both may be sent to the Simpson Funeral Home 323 S. Kansas Ave. Columbus, KS
