Pauline was born in Hamilton, Alabama to the late Andy and Robbie Vickery. She met the love of her life, Elton Theo Gurley in 1946, and they were married for 46 treasured years. They worked side by side in the fields as they started out farming in the Clear Lake and Promised Land communities outside of Blytheville, where Pauline lived for most of her life. She was a virtuous woman who selflessly dedicated her life to caring for and loving her husband and their family of two daughters and one grandson. She had a keen wit and sense of humor and enjoyed many hobbies throughout the years, including searching for her favorite collectibles, interior decorating, rooting for her favorite sports team, and traveling with family and friends. She was a long-time active member of the First Baptist Church of Blytheville, where she enjoyed praying, socializing, and studying the Bible with her Sunday School class. Her Bible is full of her hand-written notes highlighting her favorite scriptures.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers; and one sister.
Pauline leaves behind two beloved daughters, Mrs. Gaila Mullins and her husband Terry of Blytheville and Mrs. Patrice Miles and her husband Jesse of Newnan , Georgia; her beloved grandson, the Rev. Lance Mullins and his husband David Mellott of Indianapolis; a beloved brother, Don Vickery of Glendale, Arizona, many other relatives, and a countless number of friends. She has been described as a bright star, full of positive energy and optimism, who lit up all those around her.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 17th at 10:00 a.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David Mellott officiating. Burial will be private.
