James Allen Watts was born in Keokuk County, Iowa August 16th 1861 and died in Oakland, California April 4, 1916, being 54 years, 7 months and 20 days old. Those of his immediate family who preceded him to the other world are father, two brothers and three sisters. A mother, seven brothers and three sisters and a wife and eight children are left to mourn his departure. The funeral service was held in the Methodist Church of Meridian, Idaho, April 9th, conducted by the minister, the Rev. R.C.Williams. The local order of the IOOF attended in a body and the funeral ceremony of the order was performed over the remains. Those of the relatives attending the funeral were: the widow and family and one brother, M.A. Watts of Payette, Idaho, also Walter, Cora and Bessie Watts, nephews and nieces. The deceased came to this part of the country many years ago and settled in the Payette valley. After some time in that place he moved with his family to Meridian, where he has since resided. He was a respected citizen and has left behind a large circle of friends and fraternal realm, in which he was very actively interested.
The family consists of his wife, Mrs. Pearl Watts and Volney C., Zela P., Vera M., Ford O., Everett B, Mamie D., Marlin J., Avey V., children. The remains were shipped to Payette, where interment was made Monday the 10th, the whole family and a few fraternal representatives accompanied to witness the last sad rites over all that is mortal of an affectionate husband and parent whis to rest near the remains of his former wife.

James A. Watts passed away at Oakland, California April 5th, 1916. His body was brought to his home by his son Volney. Mr. Watts lived on a farm the greater part of his life, was always interested in his neighbors and especially devoted to the institution of the Grange. Loyal to all, both in and out of the order, his word and admonition always to be relied upon.
He was a charter member of the Meridian Grange No. 25, which was organized in 1908 being the fourth Grange organized in the state. He was a willing worker who has done much for the grange, attending some of the meetings, even, when it was very difficult for him to be about. He served in several offices of the Grange, always putting his best into his work.
Resolved, that while we miss his kind presence and lament the loss, still we bow to the inevitable, and view with awe the workings of a superior power. We at the same time are ever mindful of the greater loss and sorrow his death occasions his bereaved wife and children and we tender to Sister Watts and?family, our heartfelt sympathy in their great affliction.
Resolved, That a copy be sent to the bereaved family, one mailed to the Meridian Tmes and one to be spread upon our records.
Signed: Mrs TA Allen, HJ Roberts, SMC Reynolds, Committee.
