He worked many jobs; he was a jack of all trades to roofing, carpentry and cooking. He served in the National Guard for a total of 7 years. Abelardo was a devoted Alice Coyote fan and Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved taking rides around town with his wife by his side and going to Jalisiense to get a cup of coffee and their daily taquitos. These love birds were inseparable.
In July of 2020, Abelardo, (his beloved wife) Carolina and their daughters were infected by COVID-19. He recovered, but sadly Carolina and their daughters Angelica and Marisol passed away from complications within three weeks. Abelardo joined them on August 11, 2020 at the age of 75. His death was caused by a broken heart.
He was survived by his three remaining children: Christina Valdez, Abel Bautista and Gerry (Nina) Bautista; his four grandchildren: Leon (Deidra) Valdez, Nelisa Valdez, Alyssa Valdez and Edith Ann Bautista; his two great-grandchildren: Chloe Lea and Leonides "Leo" Valdez; his four siblings: Juan Bautista, Gilberto Bautista, Rosita (Juan) Rodriguez and Rosario (Toribio) Gonzalez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
