Robert Lockerman, age 85, of Pleasant Hill, IL, formerly of New Canton, IL passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at his home. He was born on February 11, 1935 in Cheswick, PA to Howard and Helen Crosby Lockerman. He married Donna Cobern on August 29, 1957 in Kenosha, WI, and she survives.

Robert joined the United States Navy after graduating high school, marrying Donna while in the service. After his honorable discharge from the US Navy, he went on to play semi-professional football for the Pittsburgh Steelers for a year and a half while working for Westinghouse in Cheswick and doing surveying for the state of Pennsylvania. Robert and Donna moved to California in 1963 to work at Soule' Steel then went to work for Douglas Aircraft and then as a General Manager of Numerical Control at Northrop Aircraft. He retired from there in 1992 and returned back to Pike County. Robert attended Standing on the Rock Ministry in Hannibal, MO and while living in California, he was a member of the Lions Club, VFW, and served as Commander in the American Legion. He was very artistic and loved to draw and oil paint. He also always created his own greeting cards. Golf and football were his passions, and he bled black and gold for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Robert had a dry sense of humor and was quite the character with his ornery personality. He was a caring man and loved his family greatly.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Donna Lockerman; daughters, PamelaSue Lockerman-Long of Bowling Green, MO, Sandra Tracey (Joe) Lockerman LauLetta of Hanford, CA, and Terri Ann (Thomas) Erke of New Canton, IL; six grandchildren, Joey LauLetta, Gregory Darnell, Kristen (Sean) LauLetta, Robert (Gretchen) Lockerman II, Samantha (Brandon) Miller, and Ryan LauLetta; eight great grandchildren, Trista Darnell, Allen Darnell, Lillian Darnell, Patrick Darnell, Mia Lawrence, Hayden LauLetta, Aylissa Christensen, and Connor Christensen; brothers, Sam (Louise) Lockerman of Pennsylvania, Gary (Sandy) Lockerman of Harrisburg, PA, and David (Patricia Neubert) Lockerman of Cheswick, PA; and his pal, Turbo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Howard Lockerman; and sister, Ann Randolph.

A graveside service will be held privately at Kinderhook Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to be made to Kinderhook Cemetery. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
