Rhoda Eloise Kollberg

Sturgeon Bay - Rhoda Eloise Kollberg (nee Jaeckel), 90, of Sturgeon Bay, fell asleep in the loving arms of her family and awoke in the arms of the Lord, early Friday morning, December 8, 2017 at Living Tree Estates in Greenville where had been staying the past couple months.

She was born in Two Rivers on April 29, 1927 to Herman and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Jaeckel. Rhoda was a 1945 graduate of Washington High School and worked in the office of Hamilton Manufacturing Company, both in Two Rivers. She married Russell Louis Kollberg on August 23, 1947 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie. They were happily married for 68 years. Russell preceded Rhoda in death on February 24, 2016.

Together, they lived in Madison, Manitowoc, Mishicot, and Menomonee Falls before moving to Sturgeon Bay in 1968. Rhoda worked in the offices of Ohio Chemical Company in Madison, Savings and Loan in Menomonee Falls, and clerked at Bassett's Drug Store in Sturgeon Bay. Above all, she took wonderful care of her family and home. Rhoda and Russell were longtime members of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay.

In her earlier years, she enjoyed having her siblings over for card games, visiting with friends, and going camping and fishing. Rhoda enjoyed listening to classical music, reading, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and most of all, being with her family. She loved to talk about her life, family genealogy, and was a very accurate historian right up to her death.

An exceptional mother and grandmother, Rhoda was dearly loved and will be missed by her three children, Nadine (Don) Chambers of Greenville, Keith Kollberg of Sturgeon Bay, and Wade (Colleen) Kollberg of Appleton; nine grandchildren, Nicole (Kyle) Ehlers, Dylan, Luke, and Christian Lauger, Rylan Kollberg, Curt Hibbard, Nathaniel, Aaron, and Sophie Kollberg; sister-in-law, Claudine Jaeckel; brother-in-law, Dale Maule; her nieces and nephews; and friends.

She was reunited with her parents; husband, Russell; son-in-law, Tom Lauger; infant brother, two sisters, Elizabeth Sand and Charlotte Johnson, and brother, Alan Jaeckel; sister-in-law, Charlotte Maule; and two brothers-in-law, Elmer Sand and Jim Johnson.

Funeral services for Rhoda will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Pastor Joel Sauer, of St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Bayside Cemetery, beside her husband, Russell.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at Huehns Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the time of service.

"Our family would like to extend a very special and heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staffs at Unity Hospice (Sturgeon Bay and Green Bay) and Living Tree Estates in Greenville for the loving and compassionate care for provided to Rhoda."

Expressions of sympathy, memories, and photos of Rhoda may be shared with her family through her tribute page at www.huehnsfuneralhome.com.
