The death of O. M. Condit which occurred at 6 p. m., Monday, May 29, 1893, although not unexpected, was nevertheless a sad shock to the family and friends. He had been a great sufferer for two years previous to his demise with heart disease and dropsical complications, especially for the past year or more being compelled to sit in a chair all the time and unable to lie down to rest or sleep. He died sitting in his chair.
Ogden Meeker Condit was born in Jersey, Licking county, Ohio, Jan 17, 1837, his age therefore being 56 years, 4 months and 12 days at the time of his death. He was an old resident of this county, having moved here in 1864. In June, 1866, he was united in marriage to Miss Minerva Byam. Two sons were the result of this union, one of them dying in infancy. The wife and son Grant survive him and mourn his loss. In youth he became a member of the Presbyterian church and had always maintained a consistent Christian life. Notwithstanding his helplessness and suffering he was ever patient, uncomplaining and even cheerful.
The funeral was largely attended on Wednesday at 10 a. m., being conducted from the family residence, 503 North Neil street, by Rev. C. N. Wilder.
