A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Fagg Sawyer and Georgia Belle Ensley Sawyer.
Surviving are her companion, Rick Earls; her two daughters, Ginger Myers of Bryson City and Heather Queen Parker of Cherokee; son, Scott Sawyer of Bryson City; two sisters, Prudy Wike of Whittier and Margaret Kitchin of Candler; brother, Joe Sawyer of Bryson City; two grandchildren, Jeremy Cochran and wife Sarah, and Kayla Ann Myers; great-grandchild, Malachi Cochran; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Queen was preceded in death by her brother, Fred Sawyer.
Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10 in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. The Rev. Earl King officiated. Burial was in Deep Creek Cemetery.
