DEATH OF GRANDPA ODEN

P. W. Oden was born in the state of Alabama, March 14, 1832 came to Oklahoma 19 years ago and homesteaded the place owned by his grandson Ollie Oden west of the Hammon town site, died at the home of his son J. A. Oden south of Canute, Monday August 13, 1917, aged 85 years.
His wife died about 4 years ago. Since the death of his wife Mr. Oden has made his home with his son, J. A. near Cauute(sic).
Mr. Oden was the father of nine children, only three of whom survive him, J. A. Oden, Mrs. Lizzie Morton of Cache, Okla., and Mrs. Matilda Moore of the same place.
The body was brought here for burial Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services were held at the grave yard conducted by Rev. T. C. Depew, pastor of the M. E. Church South, of which the deeeased(sic) was a member; after which the body was laid to rest in the Red Hill Cemete
