Marie Campbell Thurman of Soddy-Daisy died Thursday, June 25, 1998, in a local hospital.

She was 80. A native of Bledsoe County, Tenn., she had lived in Chattanooga for the past 10 years.

She was retired from Karco, Inc., and had worked for Opryland and Sears Roebuck in Nashville.

She was the widow of Virgil Lee Thurman, and a member of Central Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Leon Thurman, Minneapolis; eight sisters, Mildred Pendergrass, Red Bank, Leona Greer and Charlotte Acuff, Soddy-Daisy, Alma Greene, Dunlap, Tenn., Reba Hoodenpyle, Signal Mountain, Nearene Pennington, Tyler, Texas, Carolyn Acuff, Atlanta, and Francis Layne, LaMesa, Calif.; two brothers, Sutton and Clifford Campbell, Dunlap.

Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with ministers Gene Arnold and David Schonhoff officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton County Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, and two hour prior to the service Sunday at the funeral home.
