Rudy Martinez, Jr., 45, went to join our Lord on Friday, September 14, 2007 surrounded by his family at his home. He was born on August 26, 1962 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was a graduate of Parkland High School and the University of Texas at El Paso. SFC Martinez served proudly with the 5035th Garrison Support Unit with Operation Enduring Freedom at Ft. Bliss, Texas. He serviced many thousands of soldiers in support of Iraqi Freedom, Noble Eagle, and Clear Skies. He enlisted at the age of 17. Rudy is survived by his wife of 17 years, Patricia R. Martinez, and their daughter, Megan Hope, his parents, Rudolfo and Gloria Martinez, his sisters, Elizabeth Burguess (Wayne), Leonora Martinez, Michelle Seibertz (Ulrich). He will be dearly missed by the Rodriguez and Martinez Families. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Anuradha Gupta, Dr. Panagiotis Valilis and staff from the El Paso Cancer Treatment Center as well as Dr. Thomas Repine from WBAMC and the nurses and staff of the 9th Ward (9E), 5035th GSU, St. Pius X Catholic Community and Hospice of El Paso for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to St. Pius X School, 1007 Geronimo Drive, El Paso, Texas 79905 in Rudy's memory. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with Recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. at St. Pius X Church (1050 N. Clark). Mass of Resurrection will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Church. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
