Gustave Hafeman, 72, of 648 Waugoo Ave., died this morning at 4 o'clock at Winnebago County Hospital. A native of Oshkosh, he had been in poor health the past 16 years.
He was born March 24, 1891, son of the late Herman and Martha Hafeman, and spent most of his lite in Oshkosh. Mr. Hafeman, a carpenter by trade, served in World War 1 with the Rainbow Division. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the carpenters union and St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Mr. Hafeman married Clara Peitz on Dec. 16, 1939, in Oshkosh.
Survivors include his wife; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Waunita Kulibert of Oshkosh; four stepsons, Orville and Arthur Bergman of Van Dyne, Ervin Eilbert of New Jersey, and Herbert Eilbert of Oshkosh. Other survivors are John Hafeman of Oshkosh, a brother; Mrs. Meta Goodland of Oshkosh, a sister; several grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews. One sister, Bertha Tavernie, preceded him in death in 1961, and a brother, Arthur Hafeman, died in September, 1962.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Erling W. Rabe officiating. Friends may call at Konrad Funeral Home from 3 p.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday. The body will lie in state at the church from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service.
Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
