Frank formerly owned and operated a dairy farm in Bluefield, WV, along with his brother, Sidney. In the late 1920s, they decided to break up the diary and at this time, Frank, Sr. bought a farm in Sinks Grove, Monroe County, West Virginia where he farmed until about 1946. At this time Pearl and Frank retired to a smaller farm on the Old Bluefield/Princeton Road.
