Franklin Spencer Karchner, age 98 died of natural causes on January 5, 1991 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born October 16, 1892 in Pima, Arizona Territory to John and Nancy Mann Karchner. Married Elva Black on April 23, 1913 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died May 2, 1969. He was a skilled carpenter, justice of the Peace in San Juan County for 8 years. A member of the LDS Church serving two stake missions and a mission to the Missour-Independence Mission. He sang in duets, trios, quartets, and church choirs most of his life. Survived by daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Minerva) Colmere of Salt Lake City; son, Clinton B. Kartchner, Murray, Utah; daughter, Mrs. Vanetta Colemere of Salt Lake City; 17 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great granchildren; a brother Harvey J. Kartchner or Provo, Utah; and a sister Mrs. John (Pearl Robertson of Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by a son, Verl. Funeral services on Tuesday january 8th, at 12 noon, Harvard Ward Chapel, 1021 East South Temple on Monday evening 6-8 pm, and at the Ward on Tuesday, 11-11:45 am. Burial will be at Larking Sunset Lawn Cemetery."
