On Friday, Sept. 22,1905 at noon, occurred the death of Fred VanPatten aged 68 years. Death was due to heart trouble. In the death of Fred VanPatten the town of Ira loses one of its very best citizens, a whole-souled generous hearted man who was liked by everybody. His life has been full of good deeds and his face will be sadly missed in the home he loved so well. Deceased is survived by his mother, Mrs. Nicholas VanPatten, a widow, one brother, Herbert, and two sisters, Mrs. S.J. Loveless and Mrs. Carl Goodsell. The funeral was held at his late home Sunday at 12 o'clock. Burial made in Cato. His funeral was very largely attended, and the flowers were beautiful and abundant.
