'Clarence W. Welton
Clarence Wilson Welton, 80, of 641 17th Ave., Longview, died Nov. 17, 1995, in a local nursing home. He was born Nov. 18, 1914, in Josie, Neb., to Ed and Myrtle (Handy) Welton, and moved to Longview from Clatskanie in 1960.
Mr. Welton worked for several years as a log truck driver and was also a foreman at Beaver Ammunition.
He enlisted in the Navy as a machinist mate during World War II and was discharged when peace was declared.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jean Welton, at home; a son, Sonny Welton of Longview; a daughter, Donna Newton of Longview; a brother, Elvin Welton of Wenatchee, Wash.; a sister, Erma Kenny of Ames, Iowa; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Columbia Funeral Service.'
