Andrea Kay Nelson, 73, passed away October 25, 2020, at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. She was born August 3, 1947, at Great Bend, to Marvel V. & Vera I. (Irvin) Burfield. She married Delbert Nelson on June 15, 1967, at Great Bend. He survives.
A Great Bend resident since 2001, coming from Otis, Andrea was a music education teacher, a Pastor and choir director for church. She was a member of Otis United Methodist Church, LaCrosse United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women. Andrea never knew a stranger. She enjoyed crafts and scrapbooking, but especially loved to spend time with her sons and grandchildren.
Survivors include, her husband Delbert Nelson of the home; two sons, Andrew Nelson and wife Jessica of Great Bend, and Dale Nelson and wife Janice of Longmont, Colo.; a brother, Pastor Bruce A. Burfield and wife Keli of Lindsborg; and four grandchildren, Joshua, Nicholas, Emilee, and Victoria. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Brent Burfield and Marvin Burfield.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, October 29, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family requesting to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The family requests those in attendance to wear masks and social distance. Private Family Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 30, 2020, at First Christian Church in Great Bend, with Pastor Bruce A. Burfield and Reverend Josh Leu presiding. Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. in Golden Belt Memorial Park, Great Bend.
