Ferdinand Smith was the son of Wellington Smith & Harriett Simmons. He married Mary Ann Marriott 18 February 1860 in Hastings, Ontario, Canada. Together they had 7 children. they immigrated in 1870. He became a citizen of the United States in 1875. He died in Srtong City, Kansas a few weeks after the 1920 census was taken.
