Adjt. John Wesley Westbrook, 72, of Jasper, Ala., retired Salvation Army Officer who began his career in Atlanta in 1897 died Tuesday at his home.
A native of Forsyth County, Adjt. Westbrook was a former Methodist minister in the North Georgia Conference/. He enlisted as a soldier in the Salvation Army in 1897 and served as Manager of the Men's Hotel in Atlanta for the Army.
For several years, Adjt. Westbrook toured the United States with Col. Jack Addie, an outstanding Salvation Army evangelist. In 1933 he was placed on the inactive list.
Surviving are a brother, L.L. Westbrook of Jasper, Ala., two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Pylant, of East Point, and Mrs. E.M. Gober, of Lynn, Ala. and a daughter, Mrs. Elsie Compton, of San Jose, Calif.
