Matt is the son of Elijah Harp and Mary Elizabeth Monhollen of Whitley County Kentucky; the place his parents called home, and chose to raise their large family of descendents.
Matt and Juda married in 1891, were blessed with (8) known children, also in Whitley County, where Matt, a Farmer, supported his family thru the labor intense occupation of farming.
Sadly, as the years passed, Matt's health deteriorated into end stage kidney failure; he developed psychosis, which required his residency in Eastern Kentucky State Hospital, where he died March 6th 1937. He was interred at New Zion Cemetery in Whitley County, on Mar 9th.
Juda and Matt had been married 36 years when Matt passed away. Juda survived an additional 27 years; they are now together again, sharing the beauty of this place, in their final rest.
