Alice (Doody) Appleton passed away at home, on Friday, August 7, 2020, on her 92nd birthday. She is survived by her daughter, Anne Appleton; granddaughter, Olivia Appleton; two siblings, Mary Ann Peters and John (Norma) Doody; sister-in-law, Elaine Eagley; brother-in-law, Paul Appleton, Jr.; several nieces and nephews; dear friend, Catherine L. Post; and longtime neighbors, The Schaertl Family. She was predeceased by her husband, Oliver “Pudge” Appleton in 2017.

Alice was born in Canandaigua and was the daughter of Arthur and Doris (Gilligan) Doody. She attended Shortsville schools and was a graduate of Shortsville High School, class of 1946. Alice earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Nazarath College, class of 1950. She was a teacher and taught business in Woodhull and Clyde, NY. Alice worked for Agway in Canandaigua for 15 years and for Ontario County in the Personnel Office for several years. She was an active member of St. Dominic Church. Alice will be remembered as the “Ultimate People Person”.
