She was born on Oct. 6, 1915, to Charles and Mary (Haupt) Lewis in St. Paul. She graduated from Oak Hall, attended Carlton College, and then graduated from the University of Minnesota where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She worked as a medical technologist at Anchor Hospital in St. Paul.
On June 28, 1941, she married Dr. Dale V. Moen in Shell Lake. They resided in Shell Lake.
Barb was a member of the Shell Lake United Methodist Church and its choir and Guild. She was past president of the State Medical Society Auxiliary and was a member of the Shell Lake Tuesday Club and the Shell Lake Hospital Auxiliary. She served on the board of the University of Wisconsin-Barron County, the Indianhead Arts Center Board, and the Shell Lake Development Corporation and was a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Northern Pines Council.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara (Richard) Amundson, Decorah, Iowa, and Mary (Kevin) Casey, Apple Valley, Minn.; three sons, Peter (Kim) Moen, Plymouth, Minn., Paul (Glenda) Moen, Hudson, and David (Karen) Moen, Mahtomedi, Minn.; one daughter-in-law, Nan Moen, Hinsdale, Ill.; 17 grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles (Gina) Lewis, Shell Lake, and Samuel (Lloyd) Lewis, Mequon.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1996; and one son, Tom, in 1997.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, at Shell Lake United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ethan Larson officiating. Burial will be in Shell Lake Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
The family prefers memorials to Shell Lake United Methodist Church.
