Ocala - Chief Alex Borbely, Sr., USN (Ret), age 80, of Ocala, Florida (Oak Run) passed away on Friday, September 28, 2007 at Sylvia's Hospice House in Ocaa.

He was born in Edison, New Jersey on February 6, 1927.

As a young man he served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He continued servng for 20 years and retired as a Chief Boilerman.

After his military career he worked for Ford Motor Company for 20 years and retired as an Engineer.

Alex was a member of U.A.W. Local #980 and the Fleet Reserve #186 of Hernando, Florida.

Mr. Borbely was a Catholic and a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

His hobbies included Bocchi, swimming and cycling.

He is survived by a daughter, Diane, and her husband, Ed Costello, of Edison, New Jersey; son, Alex, Jr., and his wife, Barbara, of Cumming, Georgia; 4 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by is wife, Helen Margaret Borbely, who passed away on August 23, 2005.

Visitation will be Monday, October 1, 2007 at 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM at HIERS-BAXLEY FUNERAL SERVICES, TimberRidge, Ocala, Florida with a prayer service taking place at 2:00 PM.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at 8:30 AM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Ocala, Florida.

Interment with Military Honors will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.

HEIRS-BAXLEY FUNERAL SERVICES is in charage of the arrangements.
