Age 75, passed away peacefully. He played collegiate football for the University of Toronto, followed by a five year professional career with the Ottawa Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League. Jim moved to Tucson in 1957 and earned a degree in education from the University of Arizona. He went on to teach at Flowing Wells High School for 28 years. During that time he was an educator, football coach and guidance counselor. He co-founded the alternative education program, Inscape; later to be named "The Jim Butler Learning Center." Jim's dedication to his community and fellow humans was second to none. Hundreds of lives were touched by his love and generosity. His greatest joys in life were spending time with his family, friends, and supporting The University of Arizona Wildcats. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Lollie; his children, Scott Butler, Mark Butler (Laurie), Mary Cooley (Tom), Dan O'Rourke (Donna), Paul O'Rourke (Lee), Beth Crossett (Jason); his two sisters, Beryl Brown and Gladys Horner of Canada; his grandchildren, Andy, Elizabeth, Hannah, Cody, Casey, Katharine, Jami, Claire, Jake, Liam, Luke, Ryan, Will and Anna. He is preceded in death by his children, Tony and Allison.
