Mary Elizabeth Morgan, 88, of Sandyville, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2005, in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 20, 1917, in Summers County, the daughter of the late Lon M. Bragg and Alice Mae Cales Bragg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie A. Morgan; grandson, Morgan E. Easley; brothers, Burley, Harvey and Kelly Bragg; and sisters, Nellie Bragg Garten and Zelma Bragg Rupe.
Mary and her late husband operated a general store in Renick, W.Va., for many years before relocating to Jackson County, where they owned and operated Morgan's Esso/Exxon Service Center at Odaville, W.Va., for nearly 30 years. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, traveling, attending auctions and entertaining her family.
She is survived by sons, Darrel F. Morgan of Beckley, W.Va., and Dale A. Morgan and his wife, Donna Salser Morgan, of Ripley; daughters, Carrel G. Brown of Sandyville, Norma Morgan of Eagle Rock, Va., Dixie Casto and husband, Earl, of Evans, W.Va., and Nola D. Morgan of Sandyville; sister, Imogene Bragg Richmond of Cleveland, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with the Rev. Richard D. Cottrell officiating. Burial will be at Independence Cemetery, Sandyville. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
