Pioneer Minnesotan Dies in Sioux Falls
Mrs. Jennie Thompson, Widow of Adrian Veterinarian, Succumbs Here
Mrs. Jennie Thompson, 76-year-old widow of William Thompson, pioneer veterinarian at Adrian, Minn., died here at 6:15 a.m. today.
Since the death of her husband three years ago she had been making her home here with a daughter, Mrs. Lee Mitchell, 816 West Eleventh st., and her death occurred there. She had been ailing for six years.
The body will be taken to Adrian and funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon [the 15th] in the Methodist church at Adrian, of which she was a member. Rev. Gene Miller will officiate and burial will be made beside her husband in the cemetery there.
Mrs. Thompson lived at Adrian for 56 years before coming to Sioux Falls. Born March 15, 1864 [sic - marker says 1863] at Bell Flower [sic], Ill., she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben McFarlin. She was married at Adrian in 1891 [sic - may be 1889].
Survivors include two daughter[s], Mrs. Mitchell of Sioux Falls and Mrs. L.R. Colvin, Des Moines. There are two grandchildren. Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Royal Neighbors.
