Funeral services for Antonio Garcia, 80, of Abernathy will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, at St. Isidore Catholic Church, with Father Joe Chorikavunkal officiating. Rosary will be on Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Burial will be at Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels. He died on Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, at University Medical Center. He was born June 5th, 1927, in Ft. Worth. He married Elvira Gonzales on Oct. 1, 1950, in Cameron. She died on June 10, 1994. He grew up a cowboy in East Texas and worked for the rail road. After getting married, he moved to West Texas, where he settled down in County Line, a community west of Abernathy and worked as a farmer until he retired in 1990. Mr. Garcia was a faithful attendant of St. Isidore Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Angie and Rosa Garcia of Lubbock; five sons, Fernando and Danny Garcia of Lubbock, David and Magdaleno Garcia of Abernathy, and Johnny Garcia of Shallowater; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
