Alvis A. Lenz, 86, of Kiel, formerly of Osman, passed away after a courageous battle with Parkinson Disease on Wednesday morning, September 5, 2007 at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein. He was born April 18, 1921 in the town of Meeme, son of the late August & Lena Poppenhagen Lenz. Alvis attended Woodland Grade School in School Hill and Kiel High School. On November 27, 1943 he married Mabel Vogel at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel. Alvis was employed at Manitowoc Engineering for over 30 years until his retirement when the couple moved to Kiel. He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel and a former member of St. James United Church of Christ, Spring Valley where he served two terms on the consistory.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mabel of Kiel, four children: Jeanelle (Neil) Bennin, rural Sheboygan Falls, Geraldine Lenz, Greenfield, Ronald (Cheryl) Lenz, Plymouth, MN, Vicki Lenz (Randal Resch), Menasha and five grandchildren, Klaire Laux, Kristl Laux, Rick Resch, Emilie Lenz and John Lenz. He is further survived by two brothers: Norbert Lenz, Green Lake, Clarence (June) Lenz, Tomah, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Loretta Vogel, Betty Jane Vogel, Ellen & Norman Lehrke, Rosalie Vogel, Vernon & Agnes Vogel, Donald & Elaine Vogel, Betty Niemuth, Elvira & Clarence Richter, Judy & Keith Hassinger, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers, William Lenz, Erwald Lenz, Arnold & his wife Mary Lenz, brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Rueben Vogel, Elroy Vogel, Arlen Vogel, Frederick Vogel, Joe & Elaine Lisowe, Janice Vogel & Eileen Lenz.
Burial in St. James Cemetery UCC, Spring Valley.
